Job Description

To provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care, manage medical commodities and supplies, and ensure safe, rational and effective drug therapy across all county health facilities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Pharmaceutical Care: Dispensing of prescription and non-prescription medications with clear patient counseling on drug therapy, dosage, side effects and storage.
• Supply Chain Management: Requisition, receipt, storage, inventory management, distribution and quality control of pharmaceutical products and medical commodities.
• Clinical Pharmacy & Pharmacovigilance: Participate in ward rounds, review treatment charts, monitor and report Adverse Drug Reactions ADRs to relevant authorities.
• Rational Medicine Use: Promote evidence-based prescribing and cost-effective use of medicines among healthcare providers.
• Compounding & Repackaging: Prepare specialized pharmaceutical formulations and re-package bulk medications as per SOPs.
• Supervision & Mentorship: Supervise Pharmaceutical Technologists, support staff and interns.
• Data Management & Reporting: Maintain accurate records on drug consumption, controlled drugs, and compile routine pharmacy reports.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to all national pharmacy laws, PPB guidelines, and public health regulations.

Job Requirements

• Academic Qualification: Bachelor of Pharmacy B.Pharm degree from an institution recognized by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board PPB.
• Professional Internship: Certificate of successful completion of one 1 year internship from a recognized institution.
• Certificate of Registration as a Pharmacist from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board PPB.
• Valid Annual Practicing License from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board PPB.
